Description

A hands-on Financial Manager, based in Kloof is sought to take full responsibility for the finance function of a trading business that procures finished goods from China and sells to South African retailers on an FOB basis. The role requires a commercially astute finance professional with strong stock management expertise, shipping and import experience, and a solid understanding of supply chain finance. Operating at both strategic and operational levels, the successful candidate will oversee the full financial management of the business while driving efficiency, compliance, and profitability.

Responsibilities

  • Take full responsibility for the finance function including monthly management accounts, cash flow forecasting, budgets, and audits
  • Ensure strict compliance with all tax and statutory requirements such as VAT and income tax
  • Manage end-to-end stock of finished goods including landed cost calculations and inventory controls
  • Perform detailed margin analysis and oversee product profitability
  • Oversee shipping and import processes including freight forwarding and customs duties
  • Manage foreign exchange exposure and related risks
  • Oversee the debtor's book and manage credit risk
  • Ensure the business meets all specific retailer compliance requirements
  • Partner with management to develop and implement effective pricing strategies
  • Conduct gross margin analysis to drive business profitability
  • Drive working capital optimisation across the organization
  • Implement process improvements within the finance and supply chain departments
  • Oversee the financial management of a trading business procuring goods from China
  • Operate at both strategic and operational levels to drive efficiency and compliance

Qualifications

  • Professional accounting qualification such as CA(SA), CIMA, or BCom Accounting
  • Five to eight years of experience within a trading or import business
  • Proven background in retail supply chain finance and international procurement
  • Extensive experience working in stock-heavy environments
  • Specific experience with importing processes from China
  • Strong commercial acumen and high-level analytical ability
  • Skilled in IFRS compliance and the implementation of internal controls
  • Proficiency in financial modelling and forecasting techniques
  • Advanced skills in Excel and various financial ERP systems
  • Detailed knowledge of shipping, imports, and supply chain finance
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work independently while remaining operationally involved and hands-on
  • Strong focus on detail regarding stock management and cost control
  • Experience in strategic planning and driving business-wide profitability
